Champaign man faces aggravated battery charges in remote control argument

CHAMPAIGN - In an update to a story that WAND brought you on Sunday, a central Illinois man has been charged for allegedly beating his 68-year old father following an argument over a remote control.

On Monday, Troy Humphrey, 40, was charged with felony aggravated battery to a senior citizen.  

 According to police, the argument ended when Humphrey's father shot him in the shoulder.  Police also say Humphrey's father was defending himself, and hasn't been arrested or charged.

On Saturday, police were dispatched after Humphrey allegedly pushed his father out the door of a home and down the driveway.

Humphrey's injury is not life-threatening.  He appeared in court on Monday, and his bond was set at $3,000.  He was also ordered not to contact his father.
