Champaign police looking for early morning shooting suspect

CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign Police Department is requesting assistance from the public in gathering information on a report of shots fired during the early morning hours of August 11, 2014.

Champaign police say that officers were dispatched to a home during the early morning hours of August 11 for a report of shots fired in the 1100 block of N. Sixth Street.  Upon arrival, officers were told by the residents that sometime during the early morning hours, someone fired at their home.  

The officers found that the house had been struck seven times, and the damage was consistent with bullets.  Several adults and three children were in the home at the time of this incident.  No one was injured, and no one could provide any suspect information.  

Champaign police also responded to an anonymous 911 call in the same area at around 3:39 a.m. on the same day.  The suspect was described as shooting from a maroon van.  Officers were unable to locate the vehicle at that time, and were unaware of any homes being hit.
