Nationally recognized poets scheduled for "Poets in the Parlor" events

SPRINGFIELD - Several nationally recognized poets will perform in "Poets in the Parlor" events in Springfield this fall.

The appearances will take place at two state historic sites; the Old State Capitol, and the home of Vachel Lindsay, who penned "Abraham Lincoln Walks at Midnight."

Appearances scheduled at the Lindsay home include Sarah Henning on August 17, Adam Clay and Ada Limon on September 21, Jim Moore on November 9, and an open-microphone event for Springfield-area authors on December 14.  Each event begins at 2:00 p.m.  Roger Reeves is scheduled to appear at the Old State Capitol on October 28 at 7 p.m.

For the open-microphone event, 11 participants will be chosen at random from a fishbowl of names.  Those who are chosen will have a five-minute limit.
