B.G. Nevitt's Legacy Through Sweat & Work

Decatur – It's been nearly a year since GT Church Pastor B.G. Nevitt was killed in a Decatur motorcycle accident.  He may be gone but his work continues through the sweat of his congregation.

“We're also wanting to carry on the legacy of Pastor B.G. Nevitt,” Amy Grove of GT Church told WAND's Doug Wolfe.  “He loved this community so much and we would like to carry on his legacy and show our love to the community.”

All week members of the church have been working to improve Decatur neighborhoods.  Thursday they worked at the Old King's Orchard Community Center to help on construction of a “Peace Park.”

“It gives people a little bit more worth in the community,” said Old King's Orchard VP Bob Whitten.  “Feels like they're doing something positive for the community.  And just making it a better environment for people to live in.”

GT Church members also spent part of the week on improvements in the neighborhood of Galloway Park.

“We just went over there and we wanted to show the love of Jesus by mowing their lawns, trimming trees, cutting their shrubs down.  And just making it look really nice for them,” Grove stated.
