Sangamon County Child Advocacy Center to hold 25th anniversary celebration

SPRINGFIELD - The Sangamon County Child Advocacy Center is holding a celebration at the Sangamon Auditorium on August 15 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the organization and to pay tribute to the center's founding Chairman of the Advisory Board.

In addition to celebrating the group's 25th anniversary, the event will honor Judge Don Cadagin, who passed away in March.  The Cadagin family will be in attendance, and his son, Ryan Cadagin, will be honorary chair of the event.

The celebration begins in the Sangamon Auditorium's lobby at 5:30 p.m.  The tribute begins at 6:30 p.m., with dessert and coffee following at 7:00 p.m.  The event is free and open to the public.

The Sangamon County Child Advocacy Center opened in 1989, serving the community by coordinating cases of child sexual abuse and physical abuse.  The center works with State's Attorney's Office, Springfield Police Department, DCFS, Sangamon County Sheriff's Department, the Illinois State Police, and medical and mental health professionals to ensure that all aspects of the investigation, prosecution, and treatment are handled in the best interest of the child victim.  The group has helped nearly 8,000 children since its inception.
