14-year-old arrested for allegedly throwing railroad spikes onto Interstate 55
SPRINGFIELD - A 14-year-old has been arrested by an Illinois State Police Trooper for allegedly throwing railroad spikes from a railroad overpass onto northbound lanes on I-55.
According to a release from Illinois State Police, on August 15 at about 6:58 a.m., a trooper was dispatched to reports of railroad spikes being thrown onto the northbound lanes of I-55, causing damage to 5 vehicles. Upon arriving, the trooper observed the juvenile. The juvenile saw the trooper, and fled on foot. The trooper then chased the juvenile to the juvenile's residence, where he was taken into custody.
The juvenile faces preliminary charges of criminal damage to property, vehicular endangerment, and depositing injurious materials on a roadway.
