Decatur Police Chief to Retire

DECATUR-Chief Todd Walker will  retire  in September.  The chief is a 28-year-veteran of Decatur Police and is retiring for personal reasons.
He started as a patrol officer before working his way up to chief. City Manager Ryan McCrady says he will miss working with Walker.
"He's been a great leader for the department, set a good example, put a tremendous amount of hours of work into planning and moving the police department to its new location, done a great job controlling the crime rate and responding to citizen needs," McCrady says.
The city manager says he will appoint   an interim police chief   in the near future and hopes to hire  the new police chief from within  the department.
