Liquor license lottery announced during Decatur City Council meeting

DECATUR - During Monday's Decatur City Council meeting, Local Liquor Commissioner Jerry Dawson announced that four Class A or Class B alcoholic liquor licenses will be issued to qualified candidates through a liquor license lottery.

The procedure for Alcoholic Liquor License Applicants is currently on file in the Office of the City Clerk, located on the second floor of One Gary K. Anderson Plaza in Decatur.  Applications can be found at the City Clerk's Office beginning on August 19, and will be accepted through September 18.  For more information, contact City Clerk Linda Swartz at (217) 424-2708.

Other topics discussed during Monday's meeting included a new drainage system for the U.S. 51 bridge over Lake Decatur, and rescinding an agreement to purchase a new radio system following the failure of an identical system used by other city departments.
