Final medical marijuana town hall to take place in Chicago

CHICAGO - Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago will be the venue for the last of three planned town hall meetings about the application process for the state's medical marijuana program.

Patients, caregivers, and aspiring business owners are invited to attend the meeting, scheduled for Wednesday morning at the school's student union building, to learn how the application process for the program will work.

A similar meeting in Peoria on Monday saw more than 100 people attend, with the majority of the questions pertaining to the requirements for medical marijuana cultivation centers and dispensaries.

The Illinois Department of Public Health will begin taking patient and caregiver applications on September 2, with the application process for businesses expected to begin the following week.
