Springfield police arrest man after 3-day search

Posted:
SPRINGFIELD - A three-day search is over, as Springfield police have arrested a man accused of causing trouble across the city.

Springfield police say Kyle Maxey, 24, was arrested just after 2:00 p.m. Thursday.  Officers found Maxey just outside of a cornfield behind a home.  According to Springfield police, Maxey was arrested for allegedly breaking a Springfield Mass Transit District bus window, and for allegedly walking into a hotel and being armed while being sought by law enforcement.  Officers did not know if Maxey was armed throughout the duration of the three-day search.

According to our news partners at WTAX, a woman called authorities at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, reporting that she almost hit Maxey with her vehicle as he ran across I-72.  Witnesses said that he ran back across the interstate a short time later.  Law enforcement agencies utilized air support and officers on the ground to search for Maxey in a field just east of Veterans Parkway.

We'll bring you more details on this story as they become available.
