Electrical work at State Farm Center temporarily leaves 2 intersections without power

CHAMPAIGN - Two intersections in Champaign will be left without power while major electrical work is done at the State Farm Center.

In order to perform the work, electricity will be turned off in the facility, affecting traffic signals on Kirby Avenue at First Street and Fourth Street.  Both intersections will be converted into four-way stops during this time.

Power to those traffic lights will be shut off from 4:00 p.m. on August 22 until 8:00 p.m. on August 24.  Travelers will be alerted of the four-way stops by message boards placed in front of them.

Motorists are being advised to use caution, and to take alternate routes if possible.
