Mt. Zion Police make arrest in armed robbery

MT. ZION - The Mt. Zion Police Department has made an arrest in a series of robberies that have occurred in August.

Mt. Zion police say on August 22, officers responded to a reported robbery at a Subway restaurant located at 1580 State Highway 121.  Upon arriving, officers learned that the suspect entered the restaurant, implied that he was armed, and demanded money from the cashier.  The suspect then fled on foot with about $80.00 in cash.

According to Mt. Zion police, the suspect was apprehended a few blocks away from the restaurant.  Police say that the suspect was also arrested for two previous robberies, one that occurred at the same Subway on August 16, and one that occurred at Dels Popcorn on August 20.

The suspect's name has not yet been released, but Mt. Zion police say the suspect is facing a preliminary charge of armed robbery.
