Champaign County Sheriff's Office seeking robbery suspect

CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's assistance in solving a robbery that took place on Sunday, August 10.

According to Champaign County Sheriff's Deputies, the robbery happened at about 5:06 p.m. in the parking lot of the Prairie Gardens business, located at 3000 W. Springfield Avenue in Champaign.  While the victims entered their vehicle, the suspect approached them, entered the vehicle's back seat, and made demands.  The suspect then stole a purse and fled from the scene, last being seen running south from the business' parking lot.

Deputies say the suspect is described as a male between 30 and 40 years of age, standing about 5'10", and having a heavy build.  The Champaign County Sheriff's Department has distributed a computer-generated composite of the suspect.
