ADM opens new global headquarters in Chicago

CHICAGO - Officials at Archer Daniels Midland Company have announced that their new global headquarters in downtown Chicago has opened.

On Monday, ADM officials said the new office opened with about 70 employees.  According to ADM spokeswoman Jackie Anderson, about 50 of those people moved from the company's former headquarters in Decatur, with the rest being new hires.

In December, ADM decided to set up their new international headquarters in Chicago, even though the company failed to obtain the millions of dollars in state tax breaks it wanted to remain in the state.

ADM is keeping about 4,400 jobs and a North American headquarters in Decatur.  The agricultural giant has about 31,000 employees worldwide.
