Cahokia man receives 25-year sentence for kidnapping

BELLEVILLE - A Cahokia man has been sentenced to 25 years behind bars for the 2012 kidnapping of an East St. Louis man.

On Friday, Antwon D. Jenkins, 27, was sentenced by U.S. Chief District Court Judge David Herndon for kidnapping and using a firearm during a kidnapping.

According to evidence shown during the trial, on July 17, 2012, Jenkins lured a young man to his home, attacked him, and accused him of burglarizing another of Jenkins' homes.  Jenkins then drove the man into Missouri.

During the trip, Jenkins pulled over on Interstate 44, and threatened the man at gunpoint, telling him to get out of the vehicle so he could shoot him.  The young man ran into nearby woods and escaped.

Law enforcement officers arrested Jenkins several days later.
