Galesburg teachers union tentatively agrees to contract

GALESBURG - Nearly 4,500 students may be back in class before the end of the week, as the Galesburg Education Association and District 205 have reached a tentative contract agreement.

If union members vote to ratify the deal, it would end a strike that has lasted two weeks, and students would return to class on Friday.

The agreement was announced on Thursday morning, following a 17-hour bargaining session.  More than 600 employees have participated in the strike.
