IDOT suspends non-emergency roadwork over Labor Day weekend

Posted:
SPRINGFIELD - In an effort to help reduce congestion, Illinois Department of Transportation officials say non-emergency roadwork will be suspended over Labor Day weekend.

IDOT is also giving notice of lane closures that will remain in place.  Roadwork will be suspended starting at 3:00 p.m. Friday, and will not resume until Tuesday.

Officials are urging drivers to exercise caution while driving through work zones.  Construction zone speed limits will still be in effect, even if work crews are not present.
