Tours at Dana-Thomas house suspended due to water damage

Posted:
SPRINGFIELD - Tours at the Dana-Thomas House State Historic Site have been suspended for Friday, August 29 due to water damage left by Thursday's storm.

Visitors are welcome to enjoy the grounds and exterior of the home, and the Carriage House will remain open so that visitors can browse the gift shop and see a short film about the historic home.

Staff and contractors are responding to water left standing in the home's basement due to Thursday's storm.  Work will continue Friday, and possibly beyond, to dry out the basement, adjust humidity to proper levels, and assess any damage.

The status for tours for the rest of the weekend is uncertain.  Those who are considering a visit should call (217) 782-6776 for updates.
