Central Illinois man found dead in rural McLean County was hit by vehicle

LEROY - In an update to a story WAND brought you earlier this week, authorities say a man who was found dead in rural central Illinois was apparently struck by a motor vehicle as he walked home after visiting family.

On Monday, McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling said that an autopsy shows that Blaine Umstattd, 26, died of head injuries.  Kimmerling also says that an initial investigation suggests Umstattd had been visiting family in LeRoy earlier on Sunday, and was walking home when he was hit.

Umstattd's body was found on the side of a road in rural LeRoy on Sunday morning.  He was taken to a Bloomington hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact the McLean County Sheriff's Office.
