Arizona man waives preliminary hearing in the death of his half-brother

PITTSFIELD - An Arizona man who is accused in the stabbing death of his half-brother in western Illinois has waived a preliminary hearing.

On Wednesday, Joseph M. Coffman, 28, waived the scheduled hearing.  Coffman is charged with first-degree murder in the July 19 death of Dennis Coffman, 47.

According to Pike County State's Attorney Matt Goetten, Dennis Coffman was stabbed multiple times with a knife while both men were in a vehicle, traveling from Missouri to Illinois.

Joseph Coffman is being held in the Pike County jail.  He has not entered a plea, and is scheduled to be arraigned September 23.
