Macon County Conservation District holding annual Prairie Celebration

Posted:
DECATUR - The Macon County Conservation District is giving people the opportunity to figuratively step back in time at their annual Prairie Celebration.

This year's Prairie Celebration will feature a living history encampment of over a dozen different types of artisans demonstrating skills and crafts from the 1700's and 1800's.  People will also be able to tour Homestead Prairie Farm, a farmhouse that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Crafted items will be for sale, and wagon rides, music, and games for children will also be available.

The event will be held on September 13 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and September 14 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Admission to the celebration, as well as all activities, will be free.  Food will be available for a fee.  Proceeds from all concessions will go towards supporting the Rock Springs Ground Squirrels Vintage Baseball team.
