Kidzeum receives $50,000 donation from Springfield Clinic

SPRINGFIELD - Springfield Clinic neurology doctors say they are donating $50,000 for a new interactive brain exhibit at a local children's museum.

When the Kidzeum of Health and Science opens next year, visitors will be able to check out the Healthy Body Gallery, housed inside a 40-foot-tall child.  The brain exhibit will be on the third floor, accessible through a "spine climb."

According to Springfield Clinic neurology specialist Dr. David Gelber, donors are sponsoring the exhibit so that kids can learn about the central nervous system, and how to keep it healthy.

About $5.2 million of the museum's $6.5 million goal has been raised since 2008.  The 25,000-square-foot, three-story tall museum will open late next summer or early fall in downtown Springfield.
