Illinois man to face murder charges in shooting death

ALTON - Madison County prosecutors say an Illinois man who is accused of playing a role in the shooting death of a St. Louis man last weekend will face murder charges.

Prosecutors say Antione Parker, 33, has been charged with three counts of murder, one count of armed violence, and one count of armed robbery in the death of Melvin Hayes, 39.

According to State's Attorney Tom Gibbons, Parker was not the gunman in Hayes' death, but has been charged based on accountability for his role.  Gibbons also said the shooting appears to be drug-related, and that other charges could be expected as the investigation proceeds.

Parker remains in custody in lieu of $1 million bond.
