Highland School District teachers prepare for strike

HIGHLAND - Teachers in Madison County's Highland School District are preparing to go on strike after the district's latest contract proposal was rejected.

On Monday, both sides met with a federal mediator to exchange contract proposals.  However, that meeting ended with no agreement, with no other meetings scheduled.

The walkout is scheduled to begin on Thursday morning, and according to District Superintendent Mike Sutton, all buildings except the main office will be closed, and no school-sponsored activities will be held during the strike.
