Presence Medical Centers implementing temporary visitor restrictions

Posted:
URBANA - Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana and Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville are implementing temporary visitor restrictions in two units at both hospitals due to the circulation of pediatric respiratory viruses and Enterovirus D68 in some parts of Illinois.

In order to protect patient safety, until further notice no visitors under the age of 18, with the exception of siblings, will be allowed to visit patients in Pediatrics and Maternal Child Health.  In addition, anyone experiencing cold, flu, or respiratory illness symptoms are asked not to visit hospital patients.

Clinics and hospitals throughout the state are seeing more children with respiratory illnesses than usual.  Some of these cases could be due to Enterovirus D68, which can cause fever, runny nose, cough, body aches, and wheezing and breathing problems.

For more information about Enterovirus D68, you can visit www.cdc.gov.
