Champaign Police Department seeking bank robbery suspect
CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign Police Department is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying a suspect in a bank robbery that occurred Monday afternoon.
Champaign police say that at about 3:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a robbery at First Midwest Bank, located at 812 West Springfield Avenue. Bank personnel told officers that an unknown man had entered the bank and displayed a note, which indicated that he was armed with a gun. However, no weapon was displayed to the teller. The suspect was then handed an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving the bank, heading northbound on foot. No one was harmed.
The suspect is described as a male in his 30's, about 5'7" tall, with a mustache and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a black ball cap with a Brooklyn Nets emblem, a black jacket with red designs, black pants, and white shoes.
