Ribbon cutting ceremony to be held for renovated school

Posted:
CHAMPAIGN - Champaign Unit School District #4 will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at the newly-renovated Robeson Elementary School on September 23.

The ceremony will take place at 5:45 p.m. in the school's gymnasium as part of the Robeson Open House.  The community is invited and encouraged to attend.

Robeson Elementary School was opened in 1967, and recently underwent a $2.1 million renovation during the summer months of 2013 and 2014.  The renovated school now has a secured front entrance and administrative space, a renovated library, and renovated classroom spaces.

The construction work was funded by a county-wide 1% sales tax increase, approved by Champaign County voters in 2009.  The increase has also helped complete other construction and renovation projects in the school district.
