Southern Illinois man convicted of setting girlfriend on fire

BENTON - A West Frankfort man has been convicted of setting his girlfriend on fire.

Christopher Rollins, 30, was accused of dousing his girlfriend, Tessa Leech, with cleaning solvent and setting her on fire after he said that she was being unfaithful.  Leech survived, but sustained burns over much of her body.

Rollins waived his right to trial by jury, and had a one-day bench trial earlier this month.  On Tuesday, the southern Illinois judge issued his verdict.

Rollins is scheduled to be sentenced on November 18.  He has been in custody since his arrest in August 2012.
