PBL School Board Turns Down Invite to Okaw Valley Conference

PAXTON - Panther athletics are staying put.

Paxton-Buckley-Loda will remain in the Sangamon Valley Conference.  Their school board voted 5-2 Wednesday night to decline an invitation to the Okaw Valley Conference, which they received in August.

The OVC was seeking a new member beginning in the 2016-2017 school year.  That's when Maroa-Forsyth will be moving to the Sangamo Conference - a decision that was made in July.

PBL spokesman John Overstreet said the major reason for the decision to stay was "the long standing tradition that we have with the schools in the SVC."

It's also worth noting, PBL is the 2nd-largest school, in terms of enrollment (449 students) in the SVC. They would have been the smallest school in the OVC.
