GODFREY - A southwestern Illinois man who pleaded guilty to driving his car into a house while intoxicated and killing a 73-year-old man inside has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

On Thursday, Jacob Fickle, 25, was sentenced on charges of driving under the influence resulting in a death.  As part of Fickle's plea deal, prosecutors dropped four other felony charges.

According to authorities, Fickle was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine when he crashed his vehicle into the home of Marlon Bushnell, 73, in 2013.  The crash resulted in Bushnell's death.

Fickle must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence.
