University of Illinois Foundation sees 10 percent increase in donations

URBANA - On Monday, the University of Illinois Foundation announced that it had received $259.5 million in donations during the fiscal year that ended on June 30.

The amount is a 10.5 percent increase over the previous fiscal year's amount, $234.9 million.  According to foundation treasurer Walter Knorr, the money from this year's amount came from annuities, estate distributions, life-income gifts, cash gifts, and pledge payments.

Approximately 29 percent of this year's funding came from other foundations, and another 21 percent coming from corporations.  The foundation also says they saw a 4 percent increase in gifts this fiscal year.

Officials say that the University of Illinois Foundation's combined endowment totaled $3.2 billion at the end of the fiscal year.
