Illinois Department of Corrections looking for escaped inmate

VANDALIA - Illinois Department of Corrections officials are searching for an inmate who escaped from the Vandalia Correctional Center on September 23.

According to IDOC officials, Marcus Battice, 21, escaped from the rear of the property when he was returning from commissary at about 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.  A search is being coordinated by the Illinois State Police and IDOC, and the Fayette County Sheriff's Office and other local law enforcement also participating.

Battice is described as a male, standing at about 5'9" and weighing about 167 pounds.  He has brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a prison-issued dark blue shirt, prison-issued dark pants, and white tennis shoes.
