Decatur Public Schools hire new principal for MacArthur High School

DECATUR - The Decatur Public Schools Board of Education hired a new principal for MacArthur High School during a regularly scheduled meeting on September 23.

During the meeting, the board selected Paul Ranstead to be MacArthur High School's next principal.  Decatur Public Schools began their search for a new principal when Dr. Rhonda Key announced her resignation earlier this year.

Ranstead is currently working as the Associate Principal at Edison Middle School in Champaign.  From 1996 through 2006, he worked as a teacher at St. Joseph Middle School in St. Joseph and Jefferson Middle School in Champaign.  He became an administrator in 2007.  Ranstead holds a Master of Science in Educational Administration from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Illinois State University.

Ranstead is scheduled to begin on September 29, 2014.
