Champaign Police Department investigating Tuesday night shooting

CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred Tuesday night.

Champaign police say that officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Alabama Avenue at about 10:24 p.m. for a report of shots fired.  Upon arriving, officers found a 23-year-old Champaign man with a gunshot wound.  The victim was taken by ambulance to Carle Foundation Hospital, and officers from the Patrol and Investigation Divisions processed the crime scene and interviewed witnesses.

The victim's condition was not immediately known.  Anyone with information about this shooting is urged to call the Champaign Police Department at (217) 351-4545 or Crime Stoppers at (217) 373-8477.
