Charleston police make arrest in hit and run

Posted:
CHARLESTON - In an update to a story WAND brought to you last week, the Charleston Police Department have made an arrest in a hit and run case that sent a woman to the hospital.

Charleston police say Jose Garcia-Cardiel was arrested on September 26 for the charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death or great bodily injury.  Officers say the arrest was made after investigating tips received after asking for the public's help and releasing a picture of the suspect vehicle to Facebook.

On September 21 at about 3:57 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run at 4th and Grant.  Upon arriving, officers found a female victim who had been struck by a vehicle.  She was transported to Carle Hospital by Life Flight Helicopter.

The Charleston Police Department would like to thank the public for their help in identifying the suspect vehicle in such a short amount of time.
