Senator Eyes DNR Budget

Findlay – The Eagle Creek Resort sits untouched.  Now a state senator wants a full “line by line review” of spending at the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

“Start going through their budget with a fine tooth comb,” State Senator Chapin Rose, (R) Mahomet, told WAND State Capitol reporter Doug Wolfe.  “We're going to find out where they spent every penny of taxpayers money because they clearly haven't spent it at Eagle Creek.”

The resort has been closed since 2009 because of a mold problem.  The closure has had a negative impact on the local economy.  DNR was supposed to be obtaining construction bids for the renovation project but those bids have never been sought.

“As of last Friday the State Department of Natural Resources hasn't done one thing towards fixing that resort.  Not one,” Senator Rose stated.
