Construction completed on Lake Charleston's new pedestrian path
CHARLESTON - Visitors to Lake Charleston will be able to enjoy a newly-installed path designed to make pedestrian traffic safer.
The path begins at the Alex Russell Memorial Pier, and runs west around the lake before crossing a new bridge. The project was funded through an Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Grant, and took about a year to complete.
Volunteers helped in the construction of the path by removing branches and leaves. According to Watershed Project Coordinator Alan Alford, the topic of creating trails at the lake had been talked about for years.
