Pana Police Department investigating early-morning armed robbery

PANA - The Pana Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying an individual suspected of robbing a gas station during the early morning hours of October 8.

At 1:53 a.m. on Wednesday, Christian County 911 received a call reporting an armed robbery that occurred at Shasteens Marathon Station, located at 703 East Jackson Street in Pana.  When Pana Police Department officers arrived, they discovered a female clerk face down on the ground in front of the business with injuries to her face.

Officers quickly escorted the clerk to a safe location, where she was taken by ambulance to Pana Hospital for treatment.  Officers say after securing the scene, they began investigating, and found that a suspect had entered through the front door with a dark-colored handgun.  The suspect then confronted the clerk in the back office area and attacked her, striking her in the face multiple times with the end of the handgun.  After the attack, the suspect took the cashier box and the victim's purse before exiting the business.

Pana police say the suspect is described as a white male, standing about 5'10" or 5'11" tall, and weighing between 165 and 185 pounds.  He was wearing light colored blue jeans, dark colored boots, a black long-sleeve shirt, black stocking cap, dark-colored bandana over his face, and dark sunglasses.  The suspect was armed with a dark-colored semi-automatic handgun.
