Cops - Public Start Dialogue

Posted:
Decatur – “Caring Black Men” and Decatur Police hope to open a dialogue with a special forum scheduled for next week.  The forum comes after weeks of conflict between police and the minority community in Ferguson, Missouri.

“The goal is to work to better communications and to continue to improve communications between law enforcement and the community,” Assistant City Manager Billy Tyus told WAND News.  “It's also gives an opportunity for law enforcement to talk about what it is that law enforcement does and what it takes to be a law enforcement officer.”

“I'd like to see Decatur be proactive and be a more progressive community, “ said Jeffrey Perkins of Caring Black Men.  “And I think this is a small way of doing that.”

The forum is Monday night, October 13th, in the Decatur Civic Center Theater.  It runs from 6pm – 8pm.  The public is allowed to submit questions.
