4 juveniles face attempted burglary charges

SPRINGFIELD - Springfield Police Department detectives say four juveniles were apprehended after officers responded to a report of a burglary-in-progress on October 8.

Authorities say at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers responded to a call of a burglary-in-progress at a business in the 2400 block of Stevenson Drive in Springfield.  Upon arriving, officers say four individuals ran from the business.  Officers were able to apprehend all four individuals.  Three of those individuals were 13-years old while the fourth was 10-years-old.

One 13-year-old was released to a guardian, and the 10-year-old was released to his mother at the scene.  The other two 13-year-olds were taken to the Sangamon County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police say the business the officers have responded to was also burglarized on October 5 and October 7, with cell phones being stolen during those incidents.  Springfield Police Department detectives are investigating the juveniles' possible roles in those crimes.

The juveniles are currently facing charges of attempted burglary, criminal damage to property, possession of stolen property, and resisting a police officer.
