Springfield Public Works to hold public meeting on sewer back-ups

SPRINGFIELD - The City of Springfield's Public Works Department will host a public informational meeting on the Northeast Area Sanitary Sewer Alternatives Analysis on Wednesday, October 15.

The meeting will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at St. Cabrini Parish Hall in Springfield.  The area affected by this study is bordered by Mayden Road to the north, 14th Street/Delaware Drive on the west, Clearlake Avenue on the south, and Dirksen Parkway to the east.

In response to a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Administrative Order, the Public Works Department is developing sanitary sewer overflow control alternative solutions that would protect the welfare, health, and safety of local residents and the overall community.

Those in attendance will be given information regarding the program's history and proposed solutions, as well as ways that residents can be involved and help develop control alternatives.
