University of Illinois Foundation announced interim president appointment

URBANA - The University of Illinois Foundation has announced that an interim president has been appointed.

According to foundation board chairman Roger Plummer, Edward Ewald's appointment as interim president will be effective on Saturday.  The board is currently searching for a permanent replacement for the group's departing president, Thomas Farrell.

Ewald, 56, will be in charge of the university's overall development program, which includes more than 400 professional and support staff members.  He will also be responsible for the foundation's day-to-day operations.  Ewald is currently the foundation's senior vice president for development.

The foundation was established in 1935, and receives and administers private donations to the University of Illinois.
