Illinois Department of Public Health to launch Ebola hotline

Posted:
SPRINGFIELD - On Wednesday, Illinois Department of Public Health officials announced a plan to launch a hotline designed to help answer the public's questions about Ebola.

According to IDPH Director Dr. LaMar Hasbrouck, the hotline will be operational later this week.  Hasbrouck says that he wants to reassure the public after Wednesday's news that a second hospital employee in Dallas has tested positive for Ebola.  Hasbrouck also says the IDPH is working closely with local health departments and hospitals to address concerns about Ebola.

The second Dallas hospital worker who tested positive provided care for Thomas Eric Duncan, the first Ebola patient diagnosed in the United States.  Officials say it's not clear how the second worker contracted the virus.
