Central Illinois man charged with attempted first-degree murder

SPRINGFIELD - A central Illinois man has been charged by Sangamon County authorities in the stabbing of his stepfather.

On Wednesday, Robert Hunt, 20, was charged with attempted first-degree murder in the stabbing of Shane Reid, 33.

According to police, Hunt and a 17-year-old male entered Reid's home while he was sleeping Friday night.  Police say while in the home, both Hunt and the teen punched Reid in the face several times and stabbed him an unknown number of times.

Police are still looking for the teen involved in this incident.  The teen is wanted on an attempted murder charge, and both the teen and Hunt face aggravated battery and home invasion charges.

Authorities say Reid's injuries were not life threatening.  Reid has told police that Hunt has threatened to kill him.

Hunt is being held on $500,000 bond.  He is also ordered to not have any contact with Reid.
