American Red Cross encouraging central Illinois residents to donate

Posted:
ILLINOIS - The American Red Cross is encouraging eligible donors to give blood before the busy holiday season arrives.

American Red Cross officials say blood donations usually decline between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day as people are busy with holiday festivities.  In response, officials are encouraging people to donate in the weeks leading up to the holiday season in order to help prevent seasonal declines in supplies.

Although donors of all blood types are accepted, the American Red Cross especially needs donors with types O negative, A negative, and B negative.  If you want to learn more about the donation process, or if you want to make an appointment to donate, visit www.redcrossblood.org or call (800) 733-2767.
