Springfield Man Sentenced for Strangling Former Girlfriend

SPRINGFIELD - Daniel Mueller, 27, will serve a 30-year prison sentence for strangling his then-girlfriend, Kayla Dillon, in 2012.

Mueller pleaded guilty to the crime.

Sangamon County State's Attorney John Millhiser said the plea deal was appropriate based on evidence, Mueller's limited criminal history and a past diagnosis of mental illness.

Dillon was found strangled in her home on North 17th Street in December of 2012.
