Former Children's Hospital Executive Pleads Not Guilty to Embezzlement


 SPRINGFIELD - A former children's hospital official has pleaded not guilty to embezzling more than $700,000 from St. John's Children's Hospital over six years.

Margaret Curtin, 55, also waived her right to a preliminary hearing.

Prosecutors say the thefts occurred between December 2008 and her arrest on September 22. A trial in Curtin's case is scheduled for November 10

The felony theft charge carries a potential prison term of four to 15 years.

Curtin remains free on $1,000,000 bond.
