Illinois man arrested in connection with deadly ATV crash

AMBOY - Authorities say a man has been arrested in connection with an ATV crash in northern Illinois that resulted in the death of a seven-year-old girl.

According to prosecutors, Brian Dees, 34, was arrested Friday after toxicology results revealed that he had cocaine and heroin in his system at the time of the crash.  On Friday, Lee County State's Attorney Anna Sacco-Miller said that she received the toxicology results a week ago.

On August 3, Dees and two passengers were thrown from an ATV after striking a deer.  One of the passengers, Makenzie Rutherford, 7, died from her injuries two days later.

Dees faces various charges, including aggravated DUI with an accidental death.  Dees remains in jail, and his bond has not yet been set.
