CHAMPAIGN-- The bye week came at a perfect time for the Fighting Illini football team. Coming off three tough losses to open up conference play, Head Coach Tim Beckman says it was good for his players to get some much needed time off.
"It was very important for the team to get some time to be with their families," Beckman said.
It's the first break the team has had since June 10th. Players were allowed to go home on Friday and Saturday. Freshman Wide Receiver Mike Dudek said it was nice to get away.
"I got to go home, spend some time with my family. I saw my dog, who I haven't seen in a while," Dudek said with a smile.
Dudek and several other teammates used the off day to visit their Alma Maters.
"I went to my high school's game," Senior Quarterback Reilly O'toole said. "...Saw some old faces, a lot of coaches who've influenced me throughout my career, so that was nice."
The Illini will look to snap their three game losing streak this Saturday against Minnesota on Homecoming.
