1 injured in Friday night buggy crash near Arthur

ARTHUR - According to Douglas County authorities, one person was hospitalized and a horse was suffered fatal injuries in a crash that happened near Arthur on Friday.

On Tuesday, Douglas County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Peter Buckley said that a GMC truck swerved and struck a Jeep, which led to one of the vehicles hitting the horse-drawn buggy.  The buggy's wheels were smashed, and it was flipped onto its roof.  The horse suffered mortal wounds in the incident, and was euthanized by a veterinarian.

Buckley also says a person involved in the crash was sent to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.  A 21-year-old man was given a ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
